You might have noticed that CBD is trending these days and has been showing up in a variety of products that aren’t exactly related to weed! Not sure what it is? CBD, or cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring and active ingredient found in cannabis. It is not psychoactive like THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) which is the other main active component in cannabis that is responsible for giving users that cerebral, stoner-like high that we all love! In contrast, CBD on its own doesn’t get you high, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any uses! It has been gaining worldwide popularity in the health, wellness and medical world for its array of benefits from skincare to pain relief, and can be utilized in a number of different ways. CBD has been shown to provide benefits in animals as well, and has also found its way into pet products for your furry little friends!

In terms of medical usage, CBD has a prescription form that is used to treat seizure disorder, or epilepsy, and many users also note its effectiveness in treating pain and/or symptoms associated with pain, arthritis, a muscle disorder called dystonia, Parkinson disease, Crohn disease and even cancer, though further scientific research is needed. Some of its more widely popular benefits and uses are to treat and manage anxiety and depression, as CBD can help you feel more mellow by relaxing your nervous system. Studies have linked its ability to affect serotonin, which is the neurotransmitter in your brain that helps regulate mood and behaviour.  Ongoing research and reports by users have also noted positive effects in treating insomnia, post traumatic stress disorder and promotion of hearth health.

In wellness and beauty, CBD has also proven to be quite popular, but for other reasons! CBD has incredibly effective anti-inflammatory properties that make it a perfect component to add to your daily skincare regimen to treat not only redness and inflamed skin, but also wrinkles, dry skin and helps in the prevention of pimples by regulating oil production! It’s also now prevalent in hair products to help replenish hair and promote hydration!

As it can be extracted from cannabis flowers, CBD can take a variety of forms though is often utilized as the extracted form of pure concentrates, or tinctures/oils which can be applied through a dropper or spray. These forms are popular for their flexible usability! It can be applied topically or infused with creams and balms if you’re looking to take advantage of its skincare benefits! To consume orally, a drop of oil can be placed under the tongue. As one might imagine, being a cannabis extract, CBD tinctures can be rather pungent and earthy, so if the taste doesn’t sit right with you, it can always be dropped into other consumables like your favourite drinks or smoothies for easy intake! Many users also incorporate it into foods like salad dressing or compound butters! As tinctures and oils can be more potent, it is best to use in small increments of 5g and building up from there between uses. Doses can vary so ensure you read the instructions and dosage on packaging and bottles.

Those with a sweet tooth will particularly enjoy CBD infused gummy candies and chocolates, which are sometimes infused with THC as well! These would typically already be portioned off into dose-sized amounts for easy and convenient usage. Cannabis users who enjoy the high offered by THC can look into flowers that offer a higher CBD content in addition to THC so that they can enjoy the best of both worlds in obtaining the health and medical benefits of CBD while still enjoying a blunt sesh and getting high! Looking to be slightly more discreet but enjoy the smoking experience? We have you covered with CBD vape options, too!

CBD Tinctures & Topicals

Tinctures are a cannabis extraction that is made with a high percentage of alcohol and often comes in glass droppers or glass bottles. The alcohol is used to extract terpenes and cannabinoids like CBD from the rest of the plant material. Tinctures should be consumed orally.
