Sour Maui’s genetics can vary quite a bit due to differences in breeding patterns. Some in the cannabis community often consider it an evenly balanced hybrid with a 50:50 sativa/indica ratio, though for the most part it often is considered a sativa dominant due to its stronger sativa effects when consumed. The same variance can be said of its THC content, which can be tested to be anywhere between 15% to a staggering 27%! Regardless of this variation, however, there is a general consensus that this is one of the most potent sativas available out there! Both of its parents are near pure sativas themselves, with Sour Diesel with a sativa content ratio of 90% to 10% indica, and impressive genetics of 26% THC, 2% CBD and 4% CBN; while Maui Wowie is 80% to 20% sativa dominant and has a high 20% to 28% THC potency average!
Appearance & Aroma
The buds of Sour Maui are medium in size. They are fluffy though also piecy and chunky, similar to popcorn or artichokes. Its shade of green is light though pale, with darker specks of forest green throughout. The duller shades contrast with its dark orange, almost brown pistils which are long and wiry, and they are finished off with a frosty coating of trichomes. While its high is already something to be adored about this strain, its flavours and aromas are also quite stellar! There are strong notes of sour citrus lemons and pungent diesel, with undertones of earthiness and cocoa, all of which are stronger when broken down. When smoked, however, users will also taste a blend of the refreshing and sour citrus with sweet tropical fruitiness, similar to pineapples! This burst of fruit flavours is complemented with a dash of hashy spices!
