Stropharia Cubensis, also known as the McKenna mushroom, are a strain of Psilocybe Cubensis, one of the most commonly found and used phenotypes of psilocybin mushrooms in North America. Unlike the average Cubensis strain, Stropharia or McKenna mushrooms are very potent. They were named after famed lecturer, astronaut and psilocybin enthusiast and researcher, Terrence McKenna. He was first introduced to this strain in the deep rainforests of the Colombian Amazon, where in La Chorerra, he ate the Stropharia Cubensis for the first time. He dubbed it the ‘starborn magic mushroom’ as it introduced him to an entity called “the Teaching Voice” as well as for its’ intense visionary trances. From here, spores were brought back to America and from the spring of 1975, they became an accessible strain all across North America. The effects of Stropharia Cubensis are known for having a very spiritual nature, and are often used for transcendence, ego dissolution and more.
